BLOOMINGTON GOLD(r) ASSEMBLES
ALL-STAR CORVETTE CAST
FOR SPECIAL COLLECTION(r) XXV: THE GRAND FINALE
Once-in-a-Lifetime Event Will Showcase Rarest Corvettes in History
NORMAL, Ill. - For sports fans, spending an afternoon with
sports history's greatest superstars from the past 50 years would be a dream
come true. For car lovers, it's being surrounded by the world's rarest
and fastest Corvettes all at the same time and place.
Attendees at the 37th Bloomington Gold(r) Corvette Show will experience that
once-in-a-lifetime opportunity when Bloomington Gold presents Special
Collection(r) XXV: The Grand Finale, June 25-27, 2009, at Pheasant Run Resort
in St. Charles, Ill.
Special Collection XXV: The Grand Finale is a star-studded lineup of 60 of the
most historically significant Corvettes. It features everything from the
oldest Corvette in the world - the hand-built 1953 Corvette EX122
pre-production concept car that debuted at GM Motorama and represents the
beginning of Corvette production - to the 1966 factory-prepared L88 Corvette
Penske Racer driven to an amazing first place finish in the GT class at the '66
Daytona race with a damaged front end and two flashlights taped to the fenders
for headlights.
"As the Grand Finale of our 25 years of Special Collections, our goal is
to provide Bloomington Gold attendees with an all-access pass to the world's
most uniquely rare and individual Corvettes in history," said David
Burroughs, CEO, Bloomington Gold. "These amazing vehicles are truly
the celebrities of the Corvette marque, and Special Collection XXV will be the
only time all of these cars have been or will be assembled together for
everyone to witness."
The Special Collection XXV showcases MVPs from each generation of Corvette
between 1953 and 2010, including prototypes, styling cars, historically
significant competition cars and one-of-a-kind models.
Standout Corvettes include an early '60s Chevrolet Experimental Racing Vehicle
(CERV) that served as the platform for refining the Chevy body, chassis and
suspension systems. The collection also features four rare Callaway cars:
1989 Callaway TT Aero, 1991 Callaway Speedster, Callaway C16 and Callaway LM
racer. The Callaway Corvette was the only time in Chevrolet's history a
specialist manufacturer was given control of a technically advanced high
performance option: twin turbo superchargers.
Special Collection XXV is free to all who attend Bloomington Gold. The
collection is located in the DuPage Expo Center, across the street from
Pheasant Run Resort, and will be open Friday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 8
a.m. to 2 p.m.
Those interested in attending the VIP Preview & Special Video Presentation
on Thursday evening, June 25, 2009, can register at BloomingtonGold.com.
