One of only three cars originally built to pace the 2004 Daytona 500, this 2004 Corvette C5 Daytona Pace Car is a remarkable example of Chevrolet’s engineering prowess and racing heritage. Under the hood, it boasts a 350 horsepower 5.7-liter OHV aluminum LS1 V8 engine, ensuring it has the performance to match its striking looks.

The exterior is finished in Millennium Yellow factory paint, complemented by the distinctive 2004 Daytona 500 graphics package and Chevrolet’s “An American Revolution” tagline. Enhancements specific to its role as a pace car include Simpson 3-inch wide lap belts and a modified bolt-in shoulder belt bar. This vehicle is one of only two remaining in existence, making it exceptionally rare.

Historical Significance

This Corvette’s historical significance is deeply rooted in NASCAR folklore. It led the procession of 43 cars in the 2004 Daytona 500, a race won by Dale Earnhardt Jr. This victory was poignant, coming six years to the day after his father, Dale Earnhardt Sr., won the same race in 1998 and just three years after his father’s tragic death at the Daytona track in 2001. The Earnhardt family’s legacy at the Daytona 500 is monumental, with both father and son achieving victory in this iconic race, joining the ranks of other father-son duos like Bobby and Davey Allison and Lee and Richard Petty.

The car’s Millennium Yellow paint scheme with red, white, and blue Daytona 500 Pace Car livery remains intact. It also retains its custom-sculpted track light bar on the roof. With just 479 miles on the odometer, this car is in pristine showroom condition.

This car symbolizes the triumphs and tragedies of the Earnhardt legacy and the indelible mark they have left on the sport.
