A Vietnam Veteran’s Journey with Sofia, the 2007 Atomic Orange Corvette: A Passion for Performance and Perfection

In the world of Corvette enthusiasts, Michael Fisch stands out as a true aficionado. At 74, he proudly owns a 2007 Atomic Orange Corvette Coupe, which he affectionately calls “Sofia.” This remarkable car has captured the hearts of many with its striking color and impeccable modifications. Join us as we delve into the story of Michael Fisch and his meticulously maintained Atomic Orange Corvette.
A Love Born at the Indy 500:
For Michael, his journey with “Sofia” began with love at first sight during the 2007 Indy 500 race. The pace car leading the pack was an Atomic Orange Corvette, a sight that left an indelible mark on Michael. He knew he had stumbled upon something truly special with only 1,749 Atomic Orange Corvettes produced that year. A few years later, fortune smiled upon him, and he became the proud owner of one of these limited-edition beauties.
Meticulous Care and Low Mileage:
Sofia boasts just over 28,000 miles on her odometer, a testament to the careful hands that have nurtured her. Michael’s dedication to maintaining her pristine condition is evident in his attention to detail. Notably, the Corvette has never seen a rainy day, ventured onto gravel or dirt roads, and never tasted the bitterness of snow.
A Unique Personal Touch:
What truly sets Michael’s Atomic Orange Corvette apart are the thirty-eight carbon fiber sticker decals that adorn the interior. Each piece received the royal treatment with four to five coats of Atomic Orange paint, followed by four to five coats of clear gloss. All the paint used came from Automotive Touchup, known for its exceptional quality. The result is a cabin that radiates the same fiery vibrancy as the car’s exterior.
Power and Performance:
Beyond aesthetics, Michael’s Corvette is a beast under the hood. With Kooks long tube 1 7/8 headers and a Borla exhaust featuring the S-type Catback system and Polyphonic X-pipe, Sofia produces an estimated 472 rear-wheel horsepower according to a dyno test. As for the crankshaft, the power figures are estimated to reach an impressive 570 to 580 horsepower. This Corvette is not just about looks; it’s a true performance machine.
2007 Atomic Orange Corvette Unique Upgrades:
Sofia’s modifications go beyond the surface. Under the hood, you’ll find a series of enhancements that include:
- Ported and Polished Heads
