Ever since Zora Arkus-Duntov joined Chevrolet, racing has been of utmost importance to the triumph of its signature sports car, the Corvette. Thanks to Zora, a V8 engine was placed under the hood in 1955, propelling ‘Vettes to success in many varieties of motorsport.

In 2009, Chevrolet acknowledged its tremendous success in GT1 racing with the release of the GT1 Championship Special Edition Corvette. Chevrolet had not only held the American Le Mans Series GT1 Manufacturers Championship for a record-breaking eight consecutive years but also claimed the 24 Hours of Le Mans GT1 Championship title five times and acquired more than 70 victories in the American Le Mans Series.

The 2009 GT1 Championship Edition Corvette celebrates the success of Corvette C6.R Racing over the years, and some of the details of the package include C6.R-inspired graphics featuring Corvette Racing ‘Jake,’ Championships, and driver flags; ZR1-style body color, full-width spoiler, and chrome wheels; and a special engine cover with carbon pattern and yellow Corvette lettering.
