In 2009, Chevrolet acknowledged its tremendous success in GT1 racing with the release of the GT1 Championship Special Edition Corvette. Chevrolet had not only held the American Le Mans Series GT1 Manufacturers Championship for a record-breaking eight consecutive years but also claimed the 24 Hours of Le Mans GT1 Championship title five times and acquired more than 70 victories in the American Le Mans Series.
