2014 Corvette Stingray to pace Grand Prix of Indianapolis
“It was an honor for us to be selected as the pace car for this year’s Verizon IndyCar Series Grand Prix of Indianapolis,” said Jim Campbell, Chevrolet Vice President of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. “We have such a long history with this track and racing in general.”
When asked what his favorite thing about the Corvette was he answered without hesitation, “Corvette – especially with a V8 – led a field of race cars at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. There is nothing better than that.”
This weekend will be the first-ever Grand Prix of Indianapolis, but it won’t be the first time a Corvette has led the pack at The Brickyard: It paced last year’s Indianapolis 500 (indeed it also did so 12 other times).
A 2014 Corvette Stingray Pace Car convertible will serve as the pace car for the inaugural Verizon IndyCar Series Grand Prix of Indianapolis Saturday, May 10, 2014
This was not the only 2014 Corvette pace car. A Chevrolet 2014 Corvette Stingray Pace Car was also driven at the Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix by GM North America President Mark Reuss. Check out the photos and details of Mark taking a spin around the Grand Prix track to show us what it’s like behind the wheel of the new Stingray.
But the most notable pace car is the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette which was the 2013 Indy 500.
The 2014 Corvette was the first year in the seventh-generation Corvette, or as known as the C7. The C7 Corvette ran from 2014 through the 2019 model year. There were 37,288 2014 Corvettes made that year.
