2023 SCHEDULE FOR IMSA WEATHERTECH SPORTSCAR CHAMPIONSHIP

Spread the love

Below is the 2023 Schedule for IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship.

The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship offers an unparalleled racing experience for Corvette aficionados with two styles of cars – Prototype, with cutting-edge automotive technology tailored to the track, and GT, based on standard production models. The Championship features five categories: Grand Touring Prototype (GTP), Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2), Le Mans Prototype 3 (LMP3), GT Daytona Pro (GTD PRO) and GT Daytona (GTD).

The Leader Light System simplifies following the cars, allowing fans to easily identify each vehicle’s position in its respective class. An LED panel mounted on the side of the car illuminates a color-coded number to show where the car stands. For instance, a red LED number 5 on a GTD PRO car indicates the car is in 5th place in the GTD PRO category.

For the 2023 season, Corvette aficionados can look forward to witnessing their favorite sports car competing in the GT Daytona Pro (GTD PRO) class. The class, which first made its debut in 2022, involves race cars designed to comply with FIA GT3 standards. This racing class is hotly contested between the manufacturers Aston Martin, Chevrolet, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lexus, Mercedes-AMG, and Porsche.
