At a recent 2024 Michelin NCM Bash presentation, Tadge Juechter introduced us to Cody Bulkley, the chassis control engineer behind the E-Ray’s innovative features.

Bulkley’s role is pivotal, overseeing the integration of advanced systems such as ABS, brakes, traction control, stability control, and an all-new all-wheel-drive system.

This integration is not just about maintaining the legendary performance of the Corvette but pushing it into new realms of capability, especially on snowy terrains.

Innovative Design and Engineering

The Corvette E-Ray breaks new ground with its decoupled axle technology.

What is decoupled axle technology? I’m glad you asked.

Unlike traditional designs, there is no physical shaft connecting the front and rear axles—everything is controlled through sophisticated software.

This innovation allows for unique handling capabilities, which Bulkley was eager to demonstrate and discuss during the presentation.

E-Ray was Tested in the Toughest Conditions

Bulkley shared insights from rigorous testing phases that the E-Ray underwent. From the proving grounds in northern Michigan to the snowy expanses of Colorado, the E-Ray was put through scenarios that would intimidate most vehicles.

One of the standout features discussed was its ability to achieve up to 75 degrees of vehicle sidestep in snow—a feat that not only tests the limits of automotive design but also highlights the car’s adaptability to extreme conditions.

Performance Meets Fun with the New E-Ray

What sets the E-Ray apart is its blend of serious engineering with sheer enjoyment. The vehicle is designed not just for performance but for pleasure, especially in less-than-ideal conditions like snow.

Last year, we celebrated the 70th anniversary of Corvette, and Chevrolet shocked the world by performing a cyclone maneuver at Rockefeller Center in New York.

This event not only demonstrated the car’s agility but also its capacity to handle dynamic, high-visibility public performances.

In the presentation at the Michelin NCM Bash that was held April 25, 2024 – April 27, 2024, at the National Corvette Museum, Bulkley was enthused about the car’s ability to “hoon around,” performing cyclone maneuvers that demonstrate not only the car’s agility but also its stability and power under challenging conditions.

A Call to Corvette Enthusiasts

The E-Ray isn’t just another high-performance machine; it’s a call to adventure for Corvette enthusiasts. Bulkley encourages owners to explore the limits of this vehicle, especially in snowy environments where its capabilities shine brightest.

Whether sliding around a track or maneuvering through a winter landscape, the E-Ray promises a thrilling and safe ride.

Why This Matters

For fans of Corvette, the E-Ray represents the next step in the evolution of a legendary line. It maintains the brand’s hallmark of high performance while introducing new technologies that redefine what a sports car can do.

But the E-Ray is more than just a vehicle; it’s a testament to Corvette’s commitment to innovation and driving pleasure.
