As of the date of this blog posts, the Corvette Bowling Green, Kentucky assembly plant is back in operation and hitting full stride with the production of the 2020 Corvette. Vette Vues learns that the Corvette convertible will be produced in the model year 2020 as first announced. For those of you who are waiting for your new C8 Corvette Stingray, 2020 we are happy to report the Corvette’s model year, has not been curtailed as some speculated, but actually extended. May 8, 2020, John Heinricy drove a Hennessey-prepared C8 Corvette to a top speed of 205.1 mph on the 8.0-mile high-speed oval at the Continental Tire Uvalde Proving Grounds, which is located approximately 80 miles west of San Antonio, Texas. The team at Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) has a long history of testing its cars to over 200 mph. You might remember when the C7 2013 Corvette was introduced. John Hennessey ran their modified Vette with 700 hp to a top speed of 200.6 mph. The Hennessey team began working on the new mid-engine C8 Corvette as soon as they took delivery in March (2020). And recently Chevy revealed the C8 Mid-engine Corvette Convertible along with the new C8.R Corvette Race Car. The new C8 has a wide range of colors. You have the white and black, but also shades of gray, blue, red, yellow, orange and even brown.
