With Over 52,000 Tickets to Pick From – One Lucky Winner Takes the Prize

Carlisle, PA – In August 2019 Team Chevrolet came to Corvettes at Carlisle to showcase their brand new C8 Corvette.  That modern marvel would go on to be named the 2020 Motor Trend Car of the Year.  In addition to its spotlight enthusiast debut at Corvettes at Carlisle, the Chip Miller Amyloidosis Foundation, in conjunction with Valley Chevrolet of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania announced that via a special Corvette Contest/Sweepstakes a C8 would be available and awarded in 2020.

Amyloidosis Foundation Corvette Sweepstakes Winner Announced at 2020 Corvettes at Carlisle

Fast forward one year and the CMAF is proud to announce the winner of the contest – Richard Kisthardt of Tucson, Arizona.  With more than a year of sweepstakes build up, including an extended contest deadline due to COVID-19, more than 52,000 sweepstakes tickets were doled out.  Donations varied from $25 to $5,000.  Some people used promo codes, some did not…but everyone who entered supported the CMAF and took a chance at the C8 (or $75,000 lump sum payout).

As the Saturday of Corvettes at Carlisle started to wrap, the process of determining the winner commenced.  Lance Miller, President of the CMAF and co-owner of Carlisle Events, pulled his iPhone from his pocket.  Using an app, Lance first ran the totals for the number of sweepstakes tickets – officially that total was 52,991.  Using that number, Lance tasked the app with selecting ONE winner.  From there, it was determined that ticket number 7,582 was the winner.  Using the same phone, Lance called the winner and left a voice mail, informing Richard of his prize.  As of Monday, August 31, 2020, Richard has selected the cash payout option of $75,000.

When Lance and Richard finally spoke person to person, there was a little skepticism on Richard’s end.  It’s only natural; however, seeing as how he entered the sweepstakes on March 10, 2020.  Given world events, that had to seem like “forever ago.”  Best of all, with some people having hundreds of ticket numbers and chances to win, Richard had just three.  His $25 donation without promo code yielded just that, three numbers/chances to win.

“I am thrilled to be the recipient of the winning ticket supporting the CMAF,” noted a stunned Richard from his Arizona office.  “My wife works in the scientific research community and was just as excited as I was to see how much money was raised for this worthy cause.  We celebrated with dinner and are planning a family trip,” continued Richard.  “Thanks to the organizers for making this contest possible.  While I am taking the cash payout, I do have to say that is one GREAT LOOKING car.  Thank you all.”

As for CMAF President Lance Miller, he couldn’t have been happier with the result of this first-ever CMAF sweepstakes.

“The sweepstakes proved to be a slow start; however, once the final week countdown occurred, we quickly saw escalating donations coming in fast and furious,” noted Miller.  “Every penny raised goes to a tremendous cause that’s near and dear to me and my family’s heart – the CMAF,” continued Miller.  “We can’t thank everyone enough for taking a chance and helping a great cause.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us achieve our mission.”

With nearly every CMAF benefit event canceled in 2020, the sweepstakes will go a long way to further supporting the foundation and research/awareness for Amyloidosis.  There is one more CMAF event planned, although it’s virtual for 2020.  On September 27, runners and walkers will do just that on their own time and their own course as part of the Hugh Claus 5K.  Registration for this event and details about the foundation are available at www.ChipMiller.org
