Discover the hidden gem of Inverness, Florida, and the Citrus Vettes and Camaros Annual Car Show attracting 5,000 visitors from all over the state. Don’t miss Florida’s premier car show on March 10, 2024!
On March 26, 2023, the Citrus Vettes and Camaros Car Club held their annual car show. It was held in the beautiful City of Inverness, Florida. The Vintage Market on Historic Courthouse Square in Inverness was also instrumental in the event.
I would think that most of our readers have probably never heard of Inverness, Florida. It is a small town full of rich history with many shops and restaurants. It is believed to be occupied first by the Seminole people and later was a settlement area for many Scotts. Inverness was subsequently named directly after the Scottish city of Inverness, Great Britain’s most Northerly city. Well, enough of the history lesson; let’s get back to the show.
The Citrus Vettes and Camaros Club is led by Mac MacGarry, a retired Firefighter, John Lazzaretto, Vice President, Wayne Kilmer, Secretary and Angel Kilmer, Treasurer. The club is considered one of the fastest-growing clubs in Florida. It’s a non-profit organization with approximately 257 members with abundant ongoing activities for members to enjoy. You can visit their website at https://cv-ccc.org/.
The show attracted approximately 168 cars from all over Florida. Some came as far south as Broward County, Florida. A record turnout of 5,000 people was reported, which is amazing considering that the entire population of Inverness is just above 7,500. Over 60 awards were presented to many beautiful Corvettes and Camaros.
The Best of Show Award went to John Maher from Lecanto, Florida, for his 1995 Triple Black Corvette Coupe. This car only had 8,000 miles on the clock and looked like it had just rolled off the assembly line. To make things even more interesting, this was the first time the car had ever been entered into a car show. C4 Corvettes typically don’t win Best of Show in Corvette meets, but I guess this sample was so amazing that the judge in charge of selecting the Best of Show couldn’t pass it up. The event was issued 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each Corvette and Camaro class and the Best Corvette and Best Camaro awards. All the volunteers did an amazing job ensuring everything went according to plan. So many car owners shared with the club president that they were very pleased with how the judging process went.
Next Year’s show is scheduled for Sunday, March 10, 2024. Don’t miss it!
This event has developed into one of Florida’s premier car shows. If you want to attend a well-organized show with nice awards and good judging, this should be on your list as a must-attend. Lastly, a heads-up warning, register early because it’s reported that slots get filled quickly.
