We have been looking at the Corvettes that will be for sale at the Mecum Kissimmee Auction on January 6-16, 2022 in the Orlando Florida area. Today on the Vette Vues Magazine’s blog, we are looking at three Corvette Replicas that will be offered at the Mecum Kissimmee 2022 auction.
Yesterday we looked at the 1963 Corvette 327/360 Z06 “Gulf One” racing Corvette LOT F157 estimated worth is $3,000,000 – $3,500,000. I don’t know about you, but that is a stretch for my budget!
Here are some replica cars that might be interesting to look at and perhaps a little more in yours and my budget.
LOT F154 1963 Corvette Grand Sport Replica from Fast Five
Our first Corvette LOT F154 we will look at is 1 of 12 custom Corvette Grand Sport Replicas built by Mongoose Motorsports for use in the Universal Pictures’ film “Fast Five.”
Fast & Furious is a media franchise centered on a series of action films that are largely concerned with illegal street racing, heists, spies, and family. The franchise also includes short films, a television series, live shows, video games, and theme park attractions. It is distributed by Universal Pictures. – Wikipedia
The Mecum’s website shows that “The fifth installment of the series, “Fast Five,” features a spectacular 1963 Corvette Grand Sport Roadster. Built by Mongoose Motorsports, 12 replicas were built for the production of the movie, and this is one of just three known to exist today, as well as one of only two designated as “jump cars” and equipped with an air-cooled Volkswagen engine and a 4-speed manual transmission.”
If you enjoy showing cars, this is sure to be a winner. It’s painted in bright silver and has lots of custom touches. I love the various vents and scoops, wraparound windscreen, and how the Grands Sport is cut down. The Corvette Grand Sport has long been considered one of the most memorable cars of the franchise.
The car sits on a custom tubular C4 chassis with a four-corner Coil over suspension, 4-wheel disc brakes, and a Jaz fuel cell.
The wheels are 17-inch Halibrand-style complete with simulated knock-offs.
When you look at the custom interior, you’ll notice that the steering wheel centerpiece is emblazoned with “The Fast and the Furious” logo. Between the single-seat and the various gages and toggle switches, it certainly makes you feel like racing!
LOT G45 1963 Corvette Grand Sport Rolling Chassis Replica
With winter setting in most of the country, our next Corvette replica could make for a great project! LOT G45 is a D&D Corvette Grand Sport Rolling Chassis (no. 14). Make sure you note, it is a rolling chassis, not a complete Corvette. It’s a 1963 Grand Sport replica in gray primer that is ready to block sand. The information on the website says it comes with a racing fuel tank, new American Racing wheels, and tires. It does come with the manufacturer’s Certificate of Origin. The chassis has been sorted since 2007. Perhaps you’ll be the one to put it on the road! If so, make sure to send Vette Vues some photos!
LOT W252 1966 Grand Sport Corvette Replica – STAR CAR
Our last replica is a 1966 Grand Sport Corvette. It is a Mecum Star car but doesn’t have a suggested value. The engine is a 427 CI with a 4-speed transmission. The red Grand Sport is set off nicely with the white stinger and stripe.
There isn’t a lot of details, but the website says it has new brakes, new steering support, new steering wheel, new wheels and tires, new side pipe, new stripe, and new Bilstein shocks.
