Looking to get your Corvette fixed? The June 2022 Vette Vues Magazine issue has got what you’re looking for in the form of great feature articles, photos, and some exciting new developments in the C8 Corvette community. Don’t miss out on our feature article this month on the development of the L88 engine, which rocketed Roger Penske Racing to fame. Also, we have BBV Customs – 2014 Corvette called the Manta and Charlene Wood’s Custom 2021 Stingray, which is also our cover car for this month!
In October 1965, Penske got a call from Zora Arkus-Duntov on the new racing version of the 427 HP Mark IV big-block engine base on the Mystery engine and its availability to selected racing venues. It was identified as an L88. Kevin Macky of Corvette Repair brings us a great historical article on this special Corvette. Get the inside scoop on Roger Penske, Dick Guldstrand, George Wintersteen, Ben Moore, Big Hufstader, and the Sunoco Special, along with details of the races at Daytona and Sebring.
Events: 2022 Detroit Autorama
Wayne Ellwood brings you coverage of all the Corvettes that participated at this year’s Detroit Autorama. A few really cool customs include the Vuono Corvette by Label Motorsports we blogged about recently, and displays by some Corvettes clubs. Be sure to view all the awesome photographs and read up on the details about each of the cars.
Wayne Scraba, in his article, outlines the right tools for measuring rod bolt stretch and how it is necessary to do so correctly. He displays the different options available and how to use a rod bolt stretch gauge. He offers tips to help ensure you get the perfect fit the first time and don’t get surprised later on.
In our Keepin’ Track of Corvette Racing column, Jan Hyde reviews three different races that involve Corvettes. A.) C7 GT3R Corvette turns heads at St Pete, B.) Defeat Snatched from the Jaws of Victory at Long Beach and C.) C7 GT3-R Finishes 4th but Catches Eyeballs at Sears Point Sonoma Raceway.
Models and Literature
Be sure to read Model Scene by William Landis and be sure to check out the resin Corvette models this month. Another cool model this month is one that you can slamshift. He not only covered several models he already knew about, but he found new Corvette models at a local Hobby Lobby.
In this issue of Rear Vues, we present another vintage ad from Ladd Chase’s collection of Corvette advertisements from 1989. We also present the Corvette postcard for the 1989 C4 Corvette.
We bring you up to date on the rumors of an electric Corvette. In a recent interview with CNBC’s Phil LeBeau on Squawk Box, GM president Mark Reuss finally addressed the question about an all-electric Corvette. Make sure you check out the latest news with Vette Vues Magazine.
