It would be easy to exhaust any supply of superlatives in describing this outstanding, rare, multiple-award-winning 1967 Corvette coupe. The Corvette was ordered for maximum performance in 1967. Beneath the Stinger hood is its L71 version of the 427 CI big-block V-8, which breathes through triple 2-barrel carburetors within the triangular-shaped air cleaner. This engine is equipped with the K66 transistorized ignition, as well as the K19 air-injection reactor. The L71’s 435 HP and 460 lb-ft of torque move through a Muncie M21 close-ratio 4-speed manual transmission to a Code G81 Positraction rear end filled with a neck-snapping 4.11:1 ring-and-pinion set. That entire driveline, even after 57 years, is original to the car.

The chassis was upgraded with the F41 special suspension system, and it rolls on Code N89 15-inch aluminum knock-off wheels wrapped with 7.75×15 Firestone redline tires. Those wheels are one aspect that adds to the car’s rarity, as only 720 1967 Corvettes came with that option. The Tuxedo Black paint was uncommon in 1967 too, as just 815 Corvettes were painted that color, and here it’s paired with a red stinger.

Considering the purposefulness of its powertrain options, one would expect the Corvette’s cockpit to be race-car spartan; however, that’s not the case here. There’s a U69 AM/FM radio between the driver and passenger, and the windows are power operated. The Corvette retains multiple pieces of documentation in support of its provenance, including the original tank sticker, an NCRS Shipping Data Report, and a Trim Tag Affirmation Certificate by Al Greening.

A concours-level, frame-off restoration has resulted in accolades from the hobby’s premier Corvette judges. It is Bloomington Gold certified, has received multiple NCRS Top Flight awards, and was awarded a Gold Concours certificate at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals. Those judges gave the Corvette nearly perfect scores: NCRS most recently called it 96.3 out of 100 points, and the MCACN judges gave it 957 out of 1,000 points in 2021. The Bloomington Gold/NCRS/MCACN trifecta resulted in a Triple Diamond Award for the car in 2021.
