2017 Corvette Overview

Engine and Performance:

Under the hood of the 2017 Corvette lies a powerhouse that enthusiasts dream of—a 6.2-liter V8 engine. This naturally aspirated engine produced an astonishing 455 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque in its base form. For those seeking even more adrenaline, Chevrolet offered an optional performance exhaust system that increased these figures to 460 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque.

Paired with a choice of a 7-speed manual transmission with Active Rev Matching or an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, the 2017 Corvette offered a driving experience that catered to both purists and those who preferred the convenience of an automatic.

Performance-wise, this Corvette sprinted from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds with the automatic transmission, making it a true contender in the sports car world. The top speed? A hair-raising 175 mph.

Chassis and Suspension:

To harness all that power, the 2017 Corvette featured a robust chassis and suspension system. The aluminum frame was not only lightweight but also incredibly rigid, contributing to the car’s precise handling and stability, whether on the track or winding backroads.

The standard Magnetic Selective Ride Control allowed the driver to tailor the suspension settings to their preference, providing a comfortable ride for daily driving and firming up for spirited runs on the racetrack.

Design:

A Corvette has always been known for its bold and striking design, and the 2017 model was no exception. With its low-slung profile, sharp lines, and aggressive front fascia, it demanded attention wherever it went. The available Z51 Performance Package added even more aggressive styling elements, including larger wheels and distinctive aerodynamic enhancements.

Interior and Technology:

The 2017 Corvette was not just about raw power; it also offered a comfortable and tech-savvy interior. Leather-appointed seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and an infotainment system with an 8-inch touchscreen were just some of the features that ensured a pleasant driving experience.

2017 Corvette Total Production Numbers

In 2017, there was a total production of 32,782 units.

  • 11,253 Coupe
  • 2,298 Convertible
  • 9,912 Grand Sport Coupe
  • 2,046 Grand Sport Convertible
  • 6,197 Z06 Coupe
  • 1,076 Z06 Convertible

The significant development for the 2017 model year is the revival of the Corvette Grand Sport. Utilizing the foundation of the seventh-generation Corvette, the all-new Grand Sport presents a multitude of notable enhancements, making it the ideal choice for passionate Corvette enthusiasts who desire a formidable track car boasting Z06 aesthetics and superior handling paired with a robust 460HP LT1 engine.
