Vettes At One Daytona 2023: Corvettes Fill The Corvette Event
Ponce Inlet Corvette Club Presents ‘Vettes at One Daytona 2023’: a Passionate Display of Corvette Enthusiasm
Vettes at One Daytona 2023, a Corvette car show held at full capacity, showed just how passionate Corvette Enthusiasts are about their Vettes. Reed Miller shares the highlights of the show, and Barbara Cumberland, Reed Miller, and Gary Rosier’s photos capture the incredible atmosphere.
Under perfect weather conditions, the Ponce Inlet Corvette Club presented “Vettes at One Daytona 2023” Saturday, May 13th, at the huge entertainment facility across the street from Daytona International Speedway. The facility was filled with Corvettes of all generations. Over one hundred seventy-five cars signed up for a full day of activities.
The event included a Silent Auction, Chinese Basket Raffles, and a huge 50/50 drawing. All proceeds from the event go to local charities in the Volusia and Flagler counties of central Florida. The local favorite DJ Frank, provided music for the event.
Cars were divided into two classes. One was for cars wanting to be part of the People’s Choice voting, whereas the others were in the judged class where cars competed against cars in their generation. Eleven different categories were involved in both People’s Choice and Judged divisions.
In the People’s Choice, winners of the voting by show participants were C1 Maurice Boetto, Winter Park, C2 Peter Hill, Malabar, C3 Shawn Buckless, Palm Bay C4 Ken Ellery, Cocoa, C5 Kirk Conde, Palm City, C6 Convertible Earl Brawdy, Oviedo, C6 Coupe David Hutchinson, New Smyrna Beach, C7 Convertible Moh Khan, West Melbourne, C7 Coupe Luis Perez, Palm Coast, C8 Convertible Winnie Tolentino, Harmony, and C8 Coupe Steve Davidson, Palm Coast.
When all the judging was completed by the Ponce Inlet Corvette Club judging committee, the following cars came home with first-place hardware: C1 Scott Passman, Ormond Beach, C2 Steve Schoderer, Merritt Island, C3 Ernie Bartschi, St Augustine, C4 Ed Nieves, Beverly Hills, C5 Ken Sia, Palm Coast, C6 Convertible Jay Smit, Deltona, C6 Coupe William Trainer, Rockledge, C7 Convertible Bill Lynch, Deland C7 Coupe Santiago Arroyo, Orlando, C8 Convertible Bill Neway, Port Orange, and C8 Coupe Jerry Tims, Ocala.
Specialty Awards are always a big part of the show. Roaxanne Ribakoff, President of One Daytona, presented the President’s Trophy to Griff Williams of West Palm Beach for his beautiful 2022 White Coupe. The “Vettes at One Daytona” Best of Show went to Ken Sia of Palm Coast for his 2004 Blue Coupe. The Club Participation check for $200 went to the Flagler Beach Corvette Club.
